Ask your topic

Ask on a topic explains a sample of its messages in plain language: what they seem to be, what stands out, what the drift means.

How it works

Marshall runs the AI command-line tool already installed and signed in on your Mac: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex or OpenCode, preferring Claude Code. There is no API key to paste. The tool uses your own account and plan with its provider.

Settings › Artificial intelligence shows which tool was found. If none is, install Claude Code or Codex and check again.

What is sent

The sheet shows What Marshall will send before you ask. It is:

  • your question;
  • the topic's facts, including the shape objection verdict, handed over as a fact so the model cannot contradict arithmetic Marshall already did;
  • a sample of the newest messages read (up to 12), with their keys, payloads and a few headers.

Avro bytes that could not be decoded are never sent.

Those messages leave your Mac through the AI tool's provider. Do not ask about topics whose contents should not leave your machine.

The answer

The answer comes back as The opinion. It is a second opinion: the counts and verdicts on screen are Marshall's, and they do not change because of what the model says.

Marshall MQ is free for personal and commercial use.
